Weekly Fishing Report

Lake Vermilion
Weekly Fishing Report
June 30th, 2008

Walleye action continues to be good early and late in the day on the big lake. Daytime action for marble eyes has gotten a bit more difficult. Crawlers and leeches are the baits of choice either fished lindy rig style or under a slip bobber.
The mud bite is still your best bet, but don’t shy away from reefs and humps in big bays. The summer patterns are becoming more typical and predictable as we enter July.
Bass are very active around vertical structures and weeds. Top water baits or senkos fished wacky style are both excellent choices.
Pike are whacking white spinner baits in the weeds.
Muskies are still in transition but “hunters” are seeing quite a few fish chasing baits. As lake temps march upward things should improve nicely.
Lake temps are in the low 70’s, the mayflies should pop on the west end any day and lake clarity is excellent.
Have a great holiday weekend.
Good Luck
